The starting point is at the Sanpellegrino Pass car park. After crossing the carriageway, follow the signs for the Refuge and take the small road that passes in front of the Miralago hotel, where the snowy section usually begins and where the snowmobile collection point that shuttles to the Refuge is located.
The route is always well beaten and, in most cases, passable with boots. It is always a good idea to keep crampons in your rucksack and use them in any case or if necessary, in case of icy ground. They are also very useful for those who wish to continue the route to the Flora Alpina Refuge.
The difference in altitude is almost imperceptible except for a couple of short points. Soon the exit from the forest, at the first huts, begins to offer splendid views of the Fuciade plain and the mountains above. The clearing is as spectacular as one can imagine in the Dolomites.
For those who wish to continue the excursion, there are excellent possibilities. For example, reaching the Rifugio Flora Alpina by drawing a small loop through the "Valfredda" and returning to Fuciade Refuge, admiring the peaks of Focobon above Falcade in the distance. The return is by the same route as the ascent.
As always, it is recommended to consult the snow and avalanche bulletin from the Arabba weather centre before embarking on winter excursions.
